Another Great Experience - Frequent Friend and Client

Had another great trip. Staying here certainly helps our experience turn out ideal without any hassle. The waves were firing and its nice to know the swell has arrived when you can feel it from your bedroom in the middle of the night. Certainly will be back in the near future for some more timeless barrels and great locals you meet and reconnect with on the way. Our driver was also a blessing and always gets us to/from the condo with no problems of being late for flights or late to pick you up.

This is the place to stay

Best unit within the building. Its on the ground floor so you have a "backyard" with access directly to the beach. Property managers (Seth, Liz and Lindsay) were all extremely helpful and quick to respond to any inquiry. Captain Zack came through with rides, a boat trip and even cooked a feast one night. Roberth the driver showed up on time and was waiting when we got off the plane. Overall, awesome vacation and condo.

Beautiful and comfortable condo in an exquisite location!

My husband, daughter and I spent two nights at Colorado Surf Condo in July. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. Having lived in Nicaragua for over 5 years we knew about Iguana but had never visited it. Now we are kicking ourselves for our oversight. Upon arrival we were immediately enchanted by the cared for look and laid back vibe of Hacienda Iguana's grounds. The golf course has been thoughtfully designed and is very well maintained, the beach is spectacular and the waves incredible for surfing, body surfing and swimming. Then there is the beach club pool which served as an excellent wading pool for our 2 year old.

Finally we get to the condo which can only be described as a home away from home. Maggie, the owner has done a great job furnishing the condo in an elegant and comfortable manner. It did not feel like a vacation rental in the typical sense but rather a stylish home where we were able to cook for ourselves and revitalize after a grueling day of swimming, golfing and general sight seeing. The condo is on the ground floor so the porch seamlessly blends with the manicured garden in front which in turn morphs into a golf practice area which in turn meets the white sands of Colorado beach!!! Amazingly beautiful!! We felt very safe at Hacienda Iguana and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.

All in all, we had a GREAT time at the condo and Hacienda Iguana and are now even considering purchasing a property within the community... a true testament to how much we enjoyed our visit! Thank you Maggie for all of your help in arranging our weekend getaway and congratulations on your vision. We'll be back!

I've have traveled to Nicaragua and Hacienda Iguana numerous times over the years and this is one of THE best places to stay. You are right in front of one of the best surf breaks in Nicaragua plus the beach club house and pool right there make it VERY nice! The property managers Seth and Lindsey were very accomodating and helpful. Having the bikes to get around were an added bonus. I highly recommend this condo!

Perfect surf trip condo!

Guest: Nick(San Diego, CA) Date of Stay: 04/27/11 Review Submitted: 05/10/11

I came to this condo for a surf trip with my friends at the end of april, 2011. The amenities were amazing, the property managers were very accessible and the overall experience was unparelleled. Every morning I could be the first one out at colorados. When I was not surfing I could go and fish the river or the rivermouth. Me and my friend went down to the rivermouth when a few locals were handlining and asked for a few camarones to try our luck. almost every cast i caught a perch, corbina, or croaker!

I definitely would recommend this condo to anyone who wants to get a lot of quality surfing in without the hassel. You could just run out from the living room and be at colorados within a minute! Also the local restaurant isabelle's is awesome and a 5-10 minute car ride from the condo. Thanks again, I can't wait to come back!

INCREDIBLE beach spot!

We enjoyed our stay. This condo was perfect for the family (parents and 2 small children) and could have accommodated another on the pull out if needed. It was CLEAN and well maintained with a well appointed kitchen. The pictures cannot possibly describe the calm vibe, the sound of the waves or the relaxation we found here! We stopped the local on his bike with a blue ice chest, and bought lobster and fish caught that day..... delicious! Be sure to get all the groceries you will need before you make yourself at home, because you really don't need anything else once you are there. The beachside pool is perfect for watching the surf and cooling off the kids! Awesome surfing steps from the door and the ground level patio had an incredible view. The beach was beautiful and we had it all to ourselves! There were a few surfers but not crowded at all! The only thing we found missing was MORE TIME!

When in Nica again, we will certainly rent from Maggie! She was great to work with, of her word and timely on communication and deposit return. She also has a great couple for care taking! FYI We would rent a car again. It just gives you easy options!

Spring Break in Nicaragua

Guest: JRoni (Sugar Land, TX 77479) Date of Stay: 05/08/11 Review Submitted: 05/20/11

Our week in Nicaragua was a wonderful experience for our entire family. Every part of our week was better than I had hoped for.....from the lovely accommodations to the breathtaking view! The owner was more than helpful in answering our questions and concerns. We spent the week at the property without a rental car and never missed not having transportation. In fact, we welcomed it! We spent $200 for a week's worth of groceries(filet mignon, chicken, wine, etc.) on the way in from the airport and enjoyed cooking as a family.

We went on an incredible horseback ride during sunset hours, hiked over fun rocks to the village for lunch (or you can take the dirt road), had a local chef cook us lobster one evening at our place, surfed the waves, rode bikes and spent time each day rocking, visiting and reading on the back porch. We could easily have lived that life for a month! We are beyond grateful for the memories that were made in this beautiful country.

SURFER DADS - Great Place to Bring the Kids.

Guest: Matt(SF) Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 12/29/10

To lay the ground work i have been a guy who likes to go wherever the waves are good no matter what the safety, political environment, cleaniliness etc.... Now that I have gotten married and have a 4 year old boy and a 2 year old daughter my priorities have changed. I still want real waves but am not willling to even sacrifice even the 1-5% chance that something could go wrong with my family involved. Going to nicaragua will always bring up worry especially with the in-laws because they think about the Iran-Contra scandal and all the other stuff that went down in the 80's.

Let me be the first to tell you that Nicaragua now is safer than Costa Rica and if you have little kids, bringing them to Hacienda Iguana and staying at Colorados is a great way to go. Get yourself a driver, go to the supermarket, then go to your condo at Hacienda and relax. First, the place is guard gated and totally safe, second if you have little ones, the condo is ground floor so the back yard is an extension of the patio. Third depending on the tide and how the bars are looking your going to get a lot of barrels, fourth there is a pool in front of the main peak so your kids can swim all day and screw around while you are getting barreled fith you can get a cook to make all your meals that are great for a fraction of US prices. Do not worry about your kids roaming around- the place is safe, there are no wacky animals in the creek- you might see a monkey and some bugs and birds and that is about it. Watch your kids by the shore, depending on tide there could be rips but I would 100% recommed bringing kids to Hacienda.

Best Place to Stay in Hacienda Iguana

Guest: Dipan(Torrance, CA) Date of Stay: 11/06/10 Review Submitted: 11/22/10

After doing quite a bit of searching we found this great place on the beach of Colorados. From the very first communications with Seth and Lindsey the managers for the property as well as communications with the owner everyone was very helpful with information and very polite making it a no brainer this was for us. When we got to the condo the place was exactly as described very nice and steps from the beach. Seth and Lindsey were both very great and always available whenever we needed anything which made the stay that much better. One thing I must mention is I would recommend the chef we got. The food he cooked for us was sooooo good we called him to come back the next night which was our last night there. Overall if you are considering coming to Colorados I would not hesitate staying here as you will be more than satisfied with what you get. We are already talking about coming back next year!!!!! Thank you very much Maggie, Seth and Lindsey for a great and memorable experience.

Awesome location on a world class surf break

Guest: Steven J ( Port Orange, FL) Date of Stay: 08/25/09 Review Submitted: 08/25/09

Very comfortable condo. Very accomodating owner. An overall outstanding experience. Includes local contacts for transportation, fishing charters, info and supplies such as fresh fish/lobster and chef services. Capt/Chef Zak was there to help our group get anything we needed and offered invaluable information and advice. Five stars and two thumbs up!

Maggie is an excellent person to deal with from start to finish, very thorough and detailed when planning and arranging your stay. The Condos are immaculately mainintred from inside-out. Friendly staff, just make sure that you have proof of your dates of occupancy. The surf is certainly world class, bring a backup stick and have respect for the locals and the veteran surfers. See Zack for all your services from taking you to different breaks to cooking you the best fish and lobster dinner ever. Robert is an excellent driver, he knows his way flawlessly and is good with the checkpoints. He will get you safely and timely from the airport to Iguana and back.

We couldn't have been happier with our Surfing Vacation this July and the stay in this beautiful condo. The location unbeatable and the view is probably one of the best in the whole building. The condo exceeded our expectations, it was everything the owner described and some more. We would definitely recommend this condo to others. Thanks again Maggie for the professional manner in which you do business. We will be back next year. We miss Nica already. Tim & Lisa

I stayed at this condo in June 2009 and it exceeded my expectations. It is very convenient for surf/Colorados and comfortable. The owner is great to work with and can be helpful for arranging details of your trip. We used a driver she referred named Robert Ow and he was friendly and reliable. I would stay in this condo again.

We stayed in this condo May of 2009. The owner was very helpful in arranging transportation and providing general information about the region. She is very responsive and the condo is, in my opinion, in the best location possible. You can literally walk out the sliding glass door to the waves, since it is on the ground floor. It has all the amenities for a luxury stay at an affordable price. I recommend staying in this condo if surfing colorados and convenience is what you're after. That wave can be world class and this is the spot you want to be if is going off.
